About Matt Ruggles
My practice is now and always has been devoted exclusively and completely to labor and employment law. I have deep and relevant experience in all aspects of an employee’s interaction with the legal system: at the job level, administrative agency level, lawsuit level, appellate level, state court level, and federal court level. I’ve been lead counsel on hundreds of lawsuits spanning the State of California; for the first 23 years as a defense attorney getting corporations off the hook; and since 2016, as an enthusiastic advocate for employees who have experienced injustice at work.
Through delivering superior legal services to each client, we can level the playing field and collectively overcome the challenging and often bewildering landscape that litigation presents, especially for individuals who lack the resources of the corporation that has wronged them. I will use my passion, my enthusiasm, and all my training and experience to evaluate, prosecute, and win your claim.

Matt is the best employment law attorney, knowledgeable about employment laws and the rights of employees. From our first meeting, he explained everything to me in terms I could easily understand and was always very responsive when I had questions outside of our meetings.
If anyone is looking for a knowledgeable attorney to fight for your cause, go to Matt. I would recommend Matt to anyone who is having any employment issues.
Matthew helped me through the difficult process of separating from my company. It was my first time working with a lawyer, so I did not know what to expect. He explained all steps of the process, he considered my questions thoughtfully, and he did not make me feel dumb for asking simple questions. Additionally, he used phone calls, text messages, and emails to stay in touch and keep my updated. The most important reason I recommend Matthew is the peace of mind he gave me. He was concerned about me as a person, and he put my goals first, rather than trying to maximize his earnings on contingency (meaning he is paid based off of the separation amount rather than a flat fee or hourly rate). 5 stars without hesitation.
Very willing to do things in your best interest. Tells you what you need to hear to make the best decision not what you want to hear and make a decision you will regret. Very personable and easy to communicate with! Highly recommend his services!!!!
I was referred to Matt by another great attorney, Mark Swartz. He returned my call in a timely manner and handled my request quickly. He definitely has character and personality, along with the knowledge of employment law. Will be using if needed again in the future. He’s already saved in my contacts
